Python is TIOBE Programming Language Community Index In August, its leading position was further consolidated.

Python surpasses C++ to set a record
“Python is likely to become the most popular programming language of all time,” Paul Jansen, CEO of TIOBE Software, wrote in the monthly TIOBE Index.
Python leads second-place C++ by 8%. Jansen called the gap “almost a record.” To break the record, the two languages would need to be 9.55% ahead of C in November 2016, the same lead Java had over C.
“All in all, Python’s hegemony is now undeniable,” Jansen wrote.
“Are new languages expected to approach Python soon?” Jansen wrote. “Possible competitors Rust and Kotlin are fast approaching the TIOBE index top 10, but it will be a long time before they pose a real threat to Python.”
Rust is ranked 14th. Kotlin is ranked 18th, a significant increase from 27th in August 2023.
When TechRepublic asked Python MarchJansen attributes this in part to “huge demand for new programmers,” who often search for Python because it’s one of the “languages with a gentler learning curve.”
Other changes in the TIOBE Index in August
In August, C++ and C ranked second and third respectively. SQL, which ranked lower, rose from tenth to seventh. Fortran fell from ninth to tenth.
