MEMPHIS (MPD) – Officer Demetri Johnson, 34, has been identified as the Memphis police officer killed in the line of duty at Mississippi Avenue and Danny Thomas Boulevard. He leaves behind a wife and two-year-old son.

Officer Demetrice Johnson began his career with the Memphis Police Department (MPD) in May 2023. He graduated from the Training Academy, Basic Recruit Class 142, in March 2024 and was assigned to the North Terminal.

Officer Johnson embodied the highest standards of courage and dedication. He leaves behind a family that loved him deeply and an MPD family that is committed to honoring his memory through service.
