Hospitality unions back Harris despite Trump tipping pledge

Trump campaign hits back after hospitality unions ‘unite’ to reject Trump’s tax-free tipping promise and announce support Vice President Kamala Harris Run for president.

“It’s sad that union bosses continue to be puppets of the Democratic Party and are completely out of touch with the workers they’re supposed to represent,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital.

The comments are Unite As part of its support, the party has pledged to send members to knock on more than 3 million doors in swing states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and North Carolina, according to ABC News.

The pledge came despite Trump’s outspoken support for restaurant and hotel workers, who he has pledged to make tips tax-free for as part of his broader tax cut strategy.

“Those who work in hospitality and those who get tips are going to be very happy because when I take office, we’re going to no longer tax tips and the people who earn them,” Trump said when he first floated the idea at a June 9 rally in Nevada, home to a large number of hospitality workers.

But Gwen Mills, president of UNITE HERE, said Trump’s promise It was just that the former president was “playing tricks” for votes, saying Harris had long been committed to supporting unions.

The fight over the votes of tipped workers comes as Trump and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, whom the former president picked as his running mate last month, have made a broader outreach to blue-collar workers in the Rust Belt to shore up their Republican cause.

“In small towns like mine in Ohio, Pennsylvania or Michigan, in states across our country, jobs are being shipped overseas and children are being sent to fight,” Vance said in his speech at the Republican National Convention.

“To the people of Middletown, Ohio, and to all the forgotten communities in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio and in every corner of our country, I promise you this,” he continued. “I will be a vice president who never forgets where I came from.”

Meanwhile, Teamsters President Sean O’Brien became the first leader of the organization to speak at the Republican National Convention, where he expressed rare pro-GOP stances.

“We’re not beholden to anybody or any political party,” O’Brien said. “We just want to know one thing: What are you doing to help the American worker?”

At the same time, Levitt believes that Trump will continue to work hard to fight for the interests of American workers.

“President Trump is following through on his promise to eliminate the tip tax so America’s hard-working service workers can keep more of their hard-earned money,” Levitt added. “Unlike Kamala Harris, who is helping Joe Biden create an inflation crisis, President Trump is a business leader with a proven track record of building a great economy for American workers, and he will do it again.”
