Ministerial appointment expected this week?

The new government is expected to be formed this week. The suspense may finally end when Andry Rajoelina returns home after more than a week of traveling in France and Africa, three weeks after Christian Ntsay’s contract extension. The country’s current legal provisions should not allow it additional time to appoint ministers.

The prime minister has one month after being appointed to present a general plan for the country. Christian Ntsay should therefore do so in the National Assembly no later than August 12. But it is difficult to imagine having resigned ministers who, legally speaking, only deal with current affairs make this presentation together.

Even in the case of the resignation of a member of the Government, the convening of a government or ministerial meeting can no longer be formally held. But everyone can see that the resignation of the Government did not prevent the head of state from summoning the resigned ministers to participate in a special committee on the situation at Ivato International Airport.

No timetable has been announced for the appointment of the new minister. However, consistent sources indicate that this could be done this weekend after a secret meeting between the two executives.
