CENTRAL LOMBOK, NTB (ANTARA) – The Central Lombok District Tourism Office of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has called on hotel management not to raise prices excessively ahead of the MotoGP event to be held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok.

The MotoGP event – the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia – is scheduled to take place from September 27 to 29.

“The prices of hotel rooms and homestays must be kept affordable in accordance with regulations set by the government,” Central Lombok Tourism Office director Lalu Songkul said on Monday.

MotoGP and other events held at the Mandalika Special Economic Zone or Mandalika Circuit have had a positive impact on the economic growth of the community.

To this end, all parties need to lend a hand and work together to promote the success of the MotoGP event.

Sungkul stressed that the 2024 MotoGP event will be held during the holidays, so there will be relatively more tourists, including in the central area of Lombok.

According to the head of the office, in addition to vacationing, tourists traveling to Central Lombok can also watch the MotoGP race.

He commented: “After the pandemic, tourism in Central Lombok continues to grow with the Mandalika Circuit hosting the MotoGP event.”

He said the lowest hotel room rates in Central Lombok, especially in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone, are currently 500,000 rupiah (about 30.88 U.S. dollars) per night.

“Let’s keep this area safe and comfortable so that investments can continue to flow to Central Lombok,” he commented.

Earlier on Sunday, Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) president Priandhi Satria said that 75% of the preparations at the Mandalika International Circuit in Pertamina were complete.

“All that’s left to do is sweep, scrub, rinse and paint,” Satria said.
