Tegucigalpa– “During the June recess, we held working sessions with the board to arrange election issues,” a representative of the Liberty and Reconstruction Party (Libre) said on Wednesday. Russell TomeiServed as Chairman of the Party Affairs Committee.

Thome said the legislature must push through the reforms before the National Electoral Council (CNE) calls internal elections in September. “We have July and August to approve electoral reforms that we can agree on among all political forces.”

Approval of electoral reform requires a two-thirds vote, or 86 deputies, which requires agreement among the political parties represented in the legislature.

Currently, the vice-chairman of the National People’s Congress said one of the developments is the Electoral Procedure Law, which he said is already in the process of being adjudicated and awaits submission to the plenary session in July after the legislative recess.

“We will participate in the electoral process of the primaries called by the CNE in September, we must prepare candidacy for president, deputy and secretary, and in November all activities must be registered,” said the congressman, who is one of the presidential candidates of the ruling party.
