The meeting, also attended by Milena Rangel, Deputy Minister for ASEAN Affairs and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, was aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries. 
Following the visit of Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão to China from March 30 to April 2, 2024, and the visit of President José Ramos-Horta to China from July 28 to 31, 2024, during which several cooperation agreements were signed, this meeting aims to monitor the results of these visits. The two sides discussed several areas of cooperation, including the economy and agriculture.
