A mild air mass is expected to move across the Mediterranean Sea today, Friday, and will further reduce temperatures in all areas. This mild air mass will bring significant wind activity from Wasit to the south on Friday, with wind speeds decreasing further. Gusts will reach 65 to 70 km/h, with a possibility of dust, especially on the outer roads, requiring attention and caution while driving.

The weather map shows a huge difference in the temperature today, Friday 2nd August 2024, compared to the same day last year, 2nd August 2023, with the temperature difference this year being 6 degrees Celsius lower as the maximum temperature recorded in the south today will reach 46 degrees Celsius, while last year today the temperature in the south reached 52 degrees Celsius.

Meteorological experts pointed out that the reason for this phenomenon is that the East Equatorial Current is weak this year, the westerly jet activity pushes mild air masses, and the northwest wind continues. At the same time, they said that if the weather system continues to be certain, this year’s rainy season may start early.

Aviation experts confirmed that rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern cities and mountainous areas in the coming period, especially in the second week of August, and may reach central Mosul, accompanied by a drop in temperature.
