Celtics’ Al Horford details advice Tom Brady shared with him

Tom Brady is known for his TB12 method and his extreme emphasis on health and fitness. The influence of his method seems to have spread to other sports in Boston, with Celtics center Al Horford revealed that he had worked with Alex Guerrero, the legendary quarterback and Brady’s fitness and nutrition advisor.

According to Jay King of The Athletic, Horford and Brady discussed nutrition, hydration and exercise regimens as the center looks to extend his career. The quarterback stressed that while some methods may work for him, they may not work for Horford. This has helped Horford take a more flexible approach, and he said his diet is never as strict as Brady’s.

“For me, it’s about, how do I fit this into my lifestyle?” Horford said. “How do I take these things and use them to my advantage?”

Guerrero also discussed how TB12 can work with Horford to prevent injuries.

“We talked about, based on your position, what is your ultimate playing weight?” Guerrero told The Athletic. “What does that mean in your position? Do you need to move? Is it more based on speed or quickness, agility or strength and power? Once he starts to define that for himself and his position, you can put together a customizable plan for him based on what he wants to achieve.”

Consider how long Horford Guerrero has been able to play, and it appears that his work with Guerrero has paid off. The 37-year-old center has played in 65 games this season and has played a major role in the playoffs with Kristaps Porzingis out.

So while fans may want to scoff at the TB12 method, it seems to be working for Horford. The center is just four wins away from achieving his ultimate goal of winning an NBA title.
