Andorra suffered its first defeat of the pre-season in the sixth Emilio Vicente Cup, a 1-2 loss to Lleida. Ferran Costa’s side lost their first home game to a very aggressive Lleida team, which had gone from weak to strong.
The match started well for the Tricolore, with Alex Calvo scoring on a counterattack in the 4th minute, the Cordoba winger putting the game on the line with a personal move.
From that point on, Costa’s side lowered the bar and the Terra Firma took advantage of that, equalising with a goal from Gine before the break.
In the second half, the drama started from the visiting team’s corner kick. Olazabal was obviously the protagonist, and his series of saves prevented the score difference from widening. However, in the 61st minute, Unai Garcia counterattacked and the score was 1-2.
The introduction of changes allowed the Tricolore team to see more chances, but the lack of success cost Costa the tie. In the end, the score was 1-2, and Andorra suffered its first defeat in the pre-season.
