MELBOURNE – Following reports that Jordan Theobald (29) was seriously injured when he jumped from the Old Bridge in Mostar, his father today shared the good news of his son’s recovery.
That said, Jordan’s father, Jason Theobald, announced today on his Facebook profile that his son can walk without assistance and that he got out of bed and managed to get back to bed on his own.
“Today he ran 50 meters on his own without any help from anyone. He got out of bed and back into bed on his own without any help from anyone,” Jason Theobald wrote, according to Australian media reports.
“He is full of hope now. He doesn’t even use strong painkillers anymore, paracetamol is enough,” the father wrote, adding that he is still in intensive care at Mostar Hospital but that physiotherapists are actively working with him.
Jason wrote that the family is grateful for all the messages of support and that his son remains positive about his recovery:
Jason wrote: “I must mention the staff at Mostar Hospital here, they were fantastic and I knew my son was in good hands.”
He added that such a quick recovery was a miracle considering the condition in which he was admitted to hospital.
Let us remind you that Jordan Theobald, who was seriously injured when jumping off a bridge in Mostar and is currently in intensive care after surgery, his girlfriend Laura Mahoney recently launched a campaign on “GoFundMe” to raise the necessary funds for his return to his homeland Australia.
The trip to Europe was a dream for both of them, and now they are struggling to return home, with transportation and medical expenses exceeding $100,000. According to recent media reports, half of the funds were raised in just 24 hours.
By the way, he was just one of the tourists who tried to jump from the Old Bridge, but his attempt ended in tragedy, as his lower body was paralyzed. However, things are getting better now.
By the way, as previously reported by Australian media, every tourist must undergo mandatory training from a local skydiver before jumping off the 22-meter-high bridge. This is exactly what is required to obtain a safe jump permit. Jordan received such training, but apparently he was out of luck.
