Prime Minister Christopher Luxon made education a central theme of his speech at the National Party’s annual conference, telling delegates that only 22 per cent of year 8 students were meeting the expected standard in maths.
Luxon said that means four out of five people are falling behind. Worse still, three out of five are falling behind.
