The Palestinian Prisoners Club reported today that as of early August this year, the number of prisoners in occupied prisons reached approximately 9,900, including 86 female prisoners and at least 250 children.
The Prisoners Club explained in a statement that this number of prisoners does not include all detainees from the Gaza Strip, whose number is estimated to be in the thousands.
The statement noted that the number of administrative detainees in Israeli occupation prisons is 3,432.
Administrative detention is detention under Israeli military order without charge for a renewable period of six months.
The ongoing arrest campaign against Palestinians by the occupying forces has been accompanied by an escalation of crimes and violations, including ill-treatment, beatings and threats against detainees and their families.
The Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners and Released Prisoners announced in early August that a prisoner living in the Gaza Strip had died after being interrogated and severely tortured in an occupied prison.
Since October 7 last year, a devastating war has been going on in the Gaza Strip, with the Israeli occupation expanding its operations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, causing 604 martyrs and about 5,400 injuries, not to mention the escalating arbitrary arrests against Palestinians.
