Planet Money Summer School
NPR
Typically, the first class an MBA student takes is accounting. Accounting involves equations and calculating widgets… but it’s much more than that. Behind the simple act of accounting is a revolutionary way of thinking about not just business, but the world. A universe where all forces are in balance. Accounting gives you a sixth sense—it can help you tell whether your business will survive or fail.
In this course, you’ll learn the basics of accounting and discover its origins. We’ll introduce you to the man who helped spread accounting around the world. He was a monk, a magician, and possibly Leonardo da Vinci’s boyfriend.
Accounting…is it sexy?
Yes. It is.
