La Vega (New Diary) – President Luis Abinader held several events in La Vega this Saturday, including an inauguration and a visit, to continue the development of the province and contribute to the promotion of the family.

Through the projects presided over by Abinader, the President seeks to contribute to the development of La Vega and the growth of its residents, leading to a continuous change in their lifestyle.

Works in progress at La Vega

The Head of State spoke during his stay in La Vega, reporting that the government is carrying out important works for the province, such as the Municipal Market, the expansion of the King Morillo Hospital, while announcing the delivery of 2,000 titles in María Auxiliadora within a month and informing that works are underway on the Guaigüí Dam and the Duarte Highway.

He added that work is ongoing on the municipality’s civic cultural centre, athletics and bicycle paths, and the restoration highway in Halabakoa is also being monitored.

The inauguration presided by the President this Saturday included the Basic School of Professor Elena Mejía Amezquita, the multipurpose Parque Hostos, and he also visited the Expo-Vega Real 2024 multisectoral fair and the Biovega Laboratory.

This Saturday, President Luis Abinader inaugurated the Professor Elena Mejía Amézquita Basic School, which has 27 classrooms and will benefit 945 students.

The campus consists of areas such as kitchen, dining hall, mixed court, bathrooms, staircases, administration area and library.

Multi-sector Expo – Vega Real 2024

Another activity carried out by the head of state was a visit to the Expo-Vega Real 2024 multi-sector fair, which took place from August 1 to 4 and whose motto is “Drive your company to the next level”.

The President stressed that the Fair reflects the entrepreneurial and productive character of La Vega, a province of great importance for its magnetic treasure and the national economy.

He stressed the importance of agriculture and industry in the region and his commitment to supporting their growth.

Hostos Park Multipurpose Club

At noon, the President inaugurated the Parque Hostos Multipurpose Club, part of President Abinader’s commitment to provide the city of Concepción La Vega with adequate spaces for sports practice.

This work will benefit more than 25 departments and approximately 79,937 children and adolescents aged 5 to 24 years.

President orders apartment for 68-year-old woman

During this period, President Abinader ordered the delivery of an apartment to 68-year-old Mrs. Modesta Milagros Salcedo (La Beba).

La Vega’s pending works stand out

Likewise, the President used his participation to mention other pending works in the city. Among them he mentioned the long-awaited Municipal Market, which he said, “should be ready in the next two weeks”.

He announced that the filming of this work will start on the 15th of this month.

He also mentioned the collapsed Kamu River Bridge, which he said had been put out to tender and the contract awarded and work could start within the next two months.

“I would also say that in the next few days, they will be breaking ground, and I think they have already started work on the Morillogin expansion,” he added.

Furthermore, another work that is guaranteed to be completed in the coming months is the Las Maticas Sports Club.

Biovega In vitro Plant Micropropagation Laboratory

The President then toured the facilities of the Biovega In Vitro Plant Micropropagation Laboratory.

During his visit, the President was able to observe the technological and scientific advances produced at the factory.

The laboratory is strategically located for the development and production of high quality seedlings and genetics.

The lab has seen a 20% to 35% increase in seedling yields.

Producing more than 18 products, including bananas, cassava, chestnuts, potatoes and pineapples, among others. This development allows us to obtain healthier, more productive seedlings, free from any pests.

The President was accompanied at the event by Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz; Education Minister Ángel Hernández; INESPRE Director General Iván Hernández; Agricultural Bank General Manager Fernando Durán; ExpoVega 2024 President Hugo Concepción; La Vega Senator Rogelio Genao; La Vega Mayor Kelvin Cruz and President of the Presidential Council for Provincial Development Ángel de la Cruz, among others.
