Kamala: He accuses Trump of not keeping his promises and is afraid of a TV fight

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign accused her Republican opponent Donald Trump of reneging on his promise today as he proposed a new date for a televised fight.

The former president said in a post on Friday night that he had agreed to Fox News to debate Harris on September 4. Originally, the telecast was scheduled to air on ABC News on September 10 before Joe Biden dropped out of the race, but Trump recently suggested moving it to Fox.

Michael Taylor, Harris’ communications director, said, “Donald Trump is scared and trying to back out of a debate he had agreed to and going to Fox News to annoy him.”

“He needs to stop these contests and appear at the debate he has already committed to on September 10 on ABC. The vice president will be there regardless, so she has a chance to speak to a national audience in prime time,” he added, suggesting Harris will go alone. “After the one debate that the two campaigns have already agreed to, we would be happy to discuss other debates,” Taylor said.

Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump suggested ahead of a televised appearance on Fox that Democrats launched an ad campaign on Friday saying “convicted felons are afraid of the conversation” and wondered if it was because of his stance on abortion.
