On Thursday night our BMX athlete Shanayah Howell started her competition in Paris, France. After a few days of training, Thursday was the time to compete against the best in the world.
Shanayah initially had three motos with her, and if she finished in the top 20, she had a chance to play one more race and qualify for the semifinals. In the first moto, Shanayah got off to a good start, but didn’t quite fly over the hill after the first turn and fell behind in his race to finish eighth. In the second moto, he got off to a good start, but fell behind and ultimately finished seventh. In the third and final moto, he didn’t fly well between the first hills, so he wasn’t able to stay with the group and finished eighth. Thus remaining 23rd overall.

Shanaya, in her own words, is satisfied with her participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The final table showed the difficulty of the tournament, considering that the 2022 World Champion Felicia Stancil was excluded from the qualification, while Mariano Pajon managed to reach the last round of opportunities and eventually reached the semi-finals held yesterday.
COA thanks Shanayah for her commitment and courage in the cycle behind us. This cycle has won several medals, but also suffered serious injuries and required a long recovery period. All of this is what an athlete goes through to achieve the Olympic dream.
