In its latest assessment released today, the UK Ministry of Defense said that an average of more than 1,000 Russian soldiers were still being killed or injured every day in August.
In the Kharkov region, Russian troops reportedly strengthened their positions and Russian losses were slightly reduced.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said an average of 1,262 Russian soldiers were killed or wounded each day in May, a record high, but that number fell to 1,140 in June.
However, the British Ministry of Defense, citing information from the Ukrainian General Staff, said the losses in the past three months were the worst since the start of the war.
The figures could not be independently verified.
“Ukraine’s effective defense and poorly trained Russian forces have undermined Russia’s ability to translate tactical successes into broader operational gains,” the ministry added.
