Electric vehicles are still growing. Models that many people would not expect are even becoming fully electric. One of them is undoubtedly the Porsche Cayenne SUV, which will be produced exclusively at Volkswagen’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia.

As carmaker Porsche says on its website networkthe fourth generation of the Porsche Cayenne will be fully electric. A rigorous testing program is already in full swing with the first camouflaged prototypes. Porsche has also released photos of the prototypes, and they look really interesting.

Porsche Cayenne has a history of more than 20 years

For more than 20 years, the Cayenne has been characterised by its ability to offer a wide range of features, outstanding everyday driving comfort and strong off-road capabilities.

“The Porsche Cayenne sports utility vehicle was produced at the Bratislava plant in 2002. “In 2017, with the launch of the third generation of the Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Slovakia invested 800 million euros in the construction of a new body shop and assembly hall for Porsche brand products. Future SUV models will seamlessly continue this successful history while retaining all the vehicle’s familiar features. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said the Cayenne has always defined itself as a sports car in its segment. By the middle of this decade, the fourth generation will set the standard in the electric SUV segment.

Porsche Cayenne electric SUV has begun testing

Porsche is firmly in the world of electric mobility. By 2030, they want more than 80% of their new cars sold to be fully electric. The all-electric luxury SUV is based on a comprehensive further development of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform with an 800-volt architecture.

Development goals also included a new level of driving characteristics, large and stable charging, high efficiency and a high level of comfort and everyday usability.

After a long phase of digital development and testing, as well as a first test drive at the development center in Weissach, the first camouflaged prototypes of the all-electric Cayenne have left the Porsche factory. Testing under real conditions has begun, which is one of the most important milestones in the development process.

Before launch, the prototype will complete millions of kilometers of testing in extreme climate and terrain conditions around the world. In this way, the durability and reliability of the vehicle’s hardware, software and all functions will be guaranteed in accordance with the company’s high quality standards.

This was also confirmed by Lucia Kovarovič Makayová, who expects production to start in the second half of this decade. “At the Volkswagen Slovakia plant in Bratislava, we are currently preparing the launch of the next, fourth-generation Porsche Cayenne model, which will be fully electric. This will be the first fully electric SUV model manufactured in Bratislava and is scheduled to be launched in the second half of this decade. Both the Porsche Cayenne and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe are produced exclusively in Bratislava for markets all over the world.” A spokesperson for Volkswagen Slovakia concluded.
