In an effort to promote adventure tourism, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) recently launched the Eagle Jump Sri Lanka tandem skydiving club at the Koggala Air Force Base.
The initiative was conceived by Air Force Chief Air Marshal Udni Rajapaksa to provide an exhilarating experience for adventure lovers and tourists.
The goal is to encourage adventure sports across the island, thereby strengthening Sri Lanka’s economy.
The Tandem Skydiving Instructor Course is designed for experienced skydivers and includes extensive training and skydiving from approximately 13,500 feet.
After completing rigorous training, a certified tandem skydiving instructor can safely guide untrained individuals on a thrilling tandem skydiving experience.
During the inauguration, several amateur skydivers had the opportunity to take part in the adventure.
The Commanding Officer personally attended the first tandem skydive to promote safety and encourage participation.
With the opening of the Eagles Tandem Jumping Club, adventure enthusiasts both local and international can now enjoy this unique sport.
The club’s tandem skydive will be conducted by Sri Lanka Air Force officers trained by the United States Parachute Association (USPA), including Colonel Jagath Godakanda, Lieutenant Colonel Sumedha Ritigala and Lieutenant Colonel Vijitha Gomis.
These instructors have completed 1,500 skydiving jumps in total, received specialized training abroad, and participated in international skydiving shows.
The Sri Lanka Air Force makes this tandem skydiving adventure available to everyone.
