A storm hit northern Croatia yesterday. Damage in many areas of Međimurje is being determined, the municipality of Sveta Marijade was severely affected. Hail and storms also hit parts of Podravina.
There were also dark clouds over Zagreb. No major damage was caused and firefighters intervened 12 times.
Strong winds knocked down trees; damage has been repaired
Yesterday’s storm was preceded by strong winds – so strong that even trees were knocked down. Porcijunkulovo’s activities in Čakovec were interrupted – umbrellas over the main square of Čakovec were damaged.
The next morning, the damage was assessed and repaired. The municipality of Sveta Marija in Međimurje was the worst hit. Commercial buildings were damaged, leeches appeared, and a 45-year-old pine tree was cut in half in seconds.
Međimurje firefighters carried out 28 interventions. Mainly in the upper part of Međimurje.
– We carried out a fire intervention, there was a lightning strike in the house, there was an electrical fire, so there was no major damage. JVP Commander Chakovic said most of the technical interventions were to clear fallen trees Young Kanizai.
The storm also did not bypass Podravina. It brought heavy rain and hail in some areas.

HVZ: Number of technological interventions on the African continent increases

In the evening, the areas of Koprivnica and Legler were affected by the storm, accompanied by rainfall, which caused flooding of buildings and collapsed trees. Firefighters carried out 18 technical interventions, involving a total of 92 firefighters and 27 fire trucks from 21 units across the county.
The storm, accompanied by rain and strong winds, also affected Mejimurje County, causing the downing of trees and branches. Firefighters carried out 23 technical interventions, involving 84 firefighters and 25 fire trucks from 23 units in the county.
The Zagreb area was also affected by strong winds and heavy rains, which caused trees and branches to fall, and firefighters carried out 11 technical interventions, with a total of 33 firefighters and 11 fire trucks dispatched to clear the trees and branches.
The same storm affected the Krapina-Zagorje County area in the evening, causing the fall of trees and requiring technical interventions in buildings. The Croatian Fire Fighting Association announced that firefighters carried out 11 technical interventions, with the cumulative participation of 12 units, 51 firefighters and 12 fire trucks from the county area.
