The dead tree in Morocco is a blatant challenge to nature. Although its life cycle has ended for more than 15 years, it still stands proudly and becomes a unique tourist attraction visited by tourists from all over the world.
This tree, called the “Gulu Cedar”, is located in the suburbs of Ifrane Province in the central Atlas Mountains. It has become one of the most important tourist attractions in Morocco and is also one of the most famous and oldest trees in Morocco. It is estimated to be around 800 years old, with a length of 45 meters and a circumference of 6 meters.
Although there are other long-lived cedar trees in the area, this tree remains the most famous and common because its roots stay close to the ground while its dead branches still embrace the space, untouched by time and human intervention.
