After announcing the new monkeypox outbreak, the Central African Republic authorities said they had consulted with neighboring governments to investigate the source and save lives.
DRC officials say there have been more than 12,000 suspected cases and nearly 500 deaths since January last year. They also worry the disease could spread beyond that.
