Haniyeh’s body arrived in Doha from Iran on Thursday. The funeral was also held in the Iranian capital, attended by many officials and citizens.

Tens of thousands of worshippers gathered at the Imam Mohammed bin Abdul Wahab Mosque in Doha, Qatar, after Friday prayers for funeral prayers for Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh.

Preacher Sheikh Mohammed Hassan al-Marikhi on Friday asked for mercy from Haniyeh and asked Allah to include him among the martyrs.

He stressed that the Palestinian issue is a cause that unites all Muslims and highlights the unparalleled sacrifices made by the Palestinians.

According to Al Jazeera, Haniyeh’s body will be moved to the tomb of the founding imam in Lusail, and people from all walks of life will give speeches at the funeral ceremony.

The funeral will be held in a private ceremony, attended only by Hania’s close relatives.

Hamas announced Wednesday morning that Haniyeh was killed in a “Zionist attack” on his Tehran residence, a day after he attended the inauguration of Iran’s new president, Massoud Pezeshkian.

Haniyeh’s body arrived in Doha from Iran on Thursday. The funeral was also held in the Iranian capital, attended by many officials and citizens.

Iran holds state funeral

Haniyeh’s body was buried in Tehran on Thursday, with a large number of officials and citizens attending the funeral.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who led Haniyeh’s funeral prayers, praised him as an “outstanding fighter of the Palestinian resistance.”

Haniyeh’s coffin was paraded through the streets of Tehran along with the coffin of his bodyguard Wasim Abu Shaaban, who was also killed in the attack.

Haniyeh’s body and that of his companions were flown to Qatar on Thursday evening.

Assassination of Haniyeh

According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated when an air-dropped bomb hit his residence. Shrapnel hit his residence, damaging the roof and windows.

The agency added that a preliminary investigation determined that Israel was responsible for the planning and execution of Haniyeh’s assassination.

The New York Times also reported that U.S. officials privately acknowledged Israel’s involvement in the assassination of Haniyeh in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Wednesday. Despite this, Israel has not publicly claimed responsibility and has declined to comment.

On the other hand, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari denied involvement and said on Thursday that the Israeli army did not carry out air strikes on Iran or any other country in the Middle East on Wednesday.

However, he confirmed that Israel had killed prominent Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr in Lebanon, but insisted that no other airstrikes had been carried out in the region since then.
