In a generous show of support for Rarotonga Hospital and its patients, local companies Landholdings Ltd and Ocean Fresh Ltd have donated 100 pairs of crutches to aid in the recovery of patients at the hospital.
The donation is expected to have a significant impact on the hospital’s ability to provide more care for patients who require mobility assistance.
“We are very grateful to Landholdings and Ocean Fresh for their generous donation,” said Shane Marcus, physiotherapist at Rarotonga Hospital Te Marae Ora.
“It will give us a new start; it will help those who are injured and disabled and help others get more mobile.”
Marcus said the crutches will be distributed to patients in need and stressed that those who take the crutches home should return them when they are no longer needed so that others can use them.
Last year, the crutches donated by Landholdings Ltd and Ocean Fresh for distribution to the community have unfortunately not yet been returned.
“However, people have complained that there are special fees for using the crutches, which will be refunded when the crutches are returned,” Marcus added.
Tangi Boaza, Administration Manager for Landholdings and Ocean Fresh, said both companies were pleased to support the wellbeing of the local community. Over the years, Land Holdings Ltd and Ocean Fresh Ltd have contributed to Rarotonga Hospital, donating much needed resources, medical equipment and bedding, and assisting with other projects.
