On Thursday, August 1, 2024, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met and held talks with His Excellency Blaise Clotaire Origi Nguema, the Transitional President of Gabon, at the Presidential Palace in Entebbe.
His Excellency Nguema is on a two-day official visit to Uganda at the invitation of President Museveni. He is accompanied by the First Lady of Gabon, Her Excellency Zita Origi Nguema, and other high-level representatives.
During the meeting, President Nguema briefed his hosts on the political situation in Gabon and highlighted the progress made on the transition timetable, including the upcoming referendum.
President Museveni, accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, commended His Excellency Nguema for the steps taken by the Transitional Government to restore constitutional democracy in Gabon.

The two leaders further welcomed the efforts made by both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation and expressed their desire to strengthen this agenda for the benefit of both peoples.
To this end, the leaders of the two countries expressed their common commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation in various fields.
President Nguema also expressed Uganda’s desire to move away from its reliance on food imports and to draw on Uganda’s experience in agricultural development programmes, particularly in terms of wealth creation.
President Museveni further exchanged views with his guests on various regional, continental and international issues of mutual concern.
On the other hand, President Nguema expressed his gratitude to President Museveni for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and the delegation.
He also invited His Excellency Museveni to pay a state visit to the Republic of Gabon on a date to be mutually agreed through diplomatic channels.
