A 10-year-old boy was trapped between two pieces of heavy machinery and suffered serious injuries.
Police said the accident happened at around 12:30 pm on Thursday in a field in Guthrie.
A medical team and members of the Civil Defence assisted the boy at the scene before he was taken to Gozo General Hospital.
The boy was then taken by helicopter to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical attention.
Magistrate Dr. Bridget Sultana was informed of the case and assigned an investigation.
Investigations by police and Occupational Health and Safety are ongoing.
