In Ankara, Russia and the West exchanged prisoners through the mediation of Turkish intelligence services

Central Asia (CA) Turkey’s National Intelligence Organisation (M?T) brokered the exchange of 26 prisoners from seven countries. Report TRT Haber TV channel cited an intelligence statement.

Turkish intelligence officials said representatives from Russia, Belarus, the United States, Germany, Poland, Slovenia and Norway took part in the exchange.

Ten people were transferred to Russia, including two children, while 13 others were transferred to Germany and three to the United States.

The prisoners were flown to Turkey on seven planes: two arrived from the United States, and one each from Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Norway and Russia.

Participants in the exchange included Americans Evan Gershkovich and Paul Whelan, German citizen Rico Krieger, Russian politician Ilya Yasin and Russian Federal Security Service officer Vadim Krasikov.
