The Somali Premier League is the top professional football league in Somalia, established in 1967. Despite political instability and limited infrastructure, the league continues to develop local talent and maintain its importance in Somali sporting culture. The league is usually composed of 8 to 10 teams and uses a promotion and relegation system with the Somali Second Division.
