Central Equatoria State Governor Augustino Jadara Wani Camilo in May formed three committees to assess the income, assets and administrative performance of former Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony and submitted their reports to the governor on Wednesday.
Clement Malin Samuel, deputy chair of the committee that assessed government assets, lands and properties, told journalists at a joint press conference in Juba that they submitted their findings, observations and recommendations.
“We have submitted the report to the governor. All the details, findings, observations and recommendations that we have collected are in the report,” he said.
However, Marin declined to reveal their findings.
“Unless we have authorization from the governor to release the details of the report, we cannot do so on our own,” he said. “He is the legal person to release the report to the public.”
Johnson Soka Jada, the chairman of the committee that investigates administrative issues, also said their report is confidential and can only be made public with the governor’s authorization.
“We collected all the information and found all the information we wanted. Of course, this mission was very confidential and could not be disclosed. Thank God, we managed to find out what was right and what was wrong,” he said. “We have submitted our report to the governor of Central Equatoria State and now it is time to take action and put things in order.”
When asked by journalists when the governor will release the findings of the report, the Chairman of the committee that assesses budget, revenue generation and investment, Simon Kimman, said Governor Jadala wanted to know the status of Central Equatoria State and he might release the report soon.
But he clarified that the process was not an investigation but a procedure to help the new government carry out its duties.
“These committees are not investigative. They are to report back to the governor on how things are progressing. I believe he wisely wants a shorter deadline because if you are given a longer deadline, it will be forever,” said Keyman. “The governor wants to know how things are progressing and how he can pick up from where the last administration started. I believe this is to inform him how to proceed. But of course, we are not going to speculate here. I ask you to wait for the governor to disclose the contents of the report because that falls within his jurisdiction.”
