Emmanuel Macron is expected to travel to the Big Island of Hawaii to attend the next Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) Summit in Antananarivo. The official date has not yet been determined, but the President of the Republic conveyed the news through a press release.

The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) is an intergovernmental organization composed of five member states: the Union of Comoros, France under the Reunion Island, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles. The new Secretary General of the COI is Edgard Razafindravahy, former Minister of Trade and Industrialization. As of July 16, he replaces Vêlayoudom Marimoutou of the Reunion team. The political and economic summit of the countries of the region will be held in Madagascar.

The IOC brings substance to regional solidarity through cooperation projects covering a wide range of areas: ecosystem protection, sustainable management of natural resources, maritime safety, entrepreneurship, public health, renewable energy and even culture.
