The draw ball will disappear… The Champions League draw will undergo fundamental changes

Dam Press:
The European Football Association (UEFA) has officially announced that the draw method for the 2024-2025 Champions League will undergo fundamental changes due to the new format of the competition.
UEFA has introduced a new format for the most important tournament in club football, in which, starting from next season, the number of participating teams will increase from 24 to 36, and will not be divided into eight groups as usual, but will play the first round of matches in the league system, but in one tournament.
The new format stipulates that each team will face 8 opponents, which will be determined by a draw, so the previous regulations are maintained. The most noteworthy thing is that two teams from the same country will not meet at this stage of the competition. Each team will play half of the games at home and the other half at home. Then, in order, the 8 teams will advance to the round of 16.
The teams from 9th to 24th will play a showdown, with the winner advancing to the round of 16 with the top 8, and then the knockout stage will continue until the last game, while the teams from 29th to 36th will exit the Champions League.
Such a large number of teams has led to a radical change in the draw system, which will no longer rely on the often controversial “draw” method, which uses the title of hot and cold balls as a guide to the performance of the draw. Instead, the draw will be automatic.
The EU explained on its official website that the application of the old system in the draw means that about a thousand balls and at least 36 cans are needed on the table, so the system will use the balls to manually draw all 36 teams, and then through an automated program will randomly draw 8 opponents for each team, and determine 4 home games and 4 away games, all of which will be clearly visible on the screen in the TV room during the draw.
