Addis Ababa, July 27, 2024 (Address) Kim Young-eunKim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited the Friendship Tower on July 26 on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the victory of the Great Fatherland Liberation War.
North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui and Kim Song Nam, director of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, accompanied him on the visit.
Laying a wreath in the name of respected comrades Kim Young-eun A salute was held amidst the music of flower laying.
The ribbon on the wreath reads “We will always remember the martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army.”

Kim Jong-un expressed that the military achievements of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army soldiers will be recorded in the history of victory in the Korean War, and will be forever remembered in the hearts of the Korean people as the eternal gold star symbolizing meritorious service. He believed that the DPRK-China friendship based on close family ties will surely be firmly inherited and developed along with the immortal spirit of the martyrs.
