Monster RX93.1 – Eradio Portal

DWRX (93.1 FM) – currently branded as Monster Radio RX 93.1 – is a commercial radio station with a contemporary hit radio music format. It is owned and operated by Audiovisual Communicators, Inc. The station’s studio and transmitter are located on the 17th floor of Strata 2000, F. Ortigas, Jr. Road (formerly Emerald Avenue), Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Prior to adopting its current brand, it was known as RX93 from 1983 to the early 1990s. DWRX-FM operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (Except the first Wednesday of each month, when the hours are from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., and during Holy Week each year, when the hours are from midnight on Maundy Thursday to 5 a.m. on Easter Sunday)

Formerly known by the call letters DWEI, the station was originally owned by Liberty Broadcasting Corporation, which featured MOR music programming. However, LBC sold the station to Audiovisual Communicators, which was then led by Rene Lacson and Freddie Garcia. The station relaunched on August 23, 1983 as DWRX-FM. However, the station inherited the call letters “RX” from the station’s previous owners, with RX standing for “Prescription Music.” That same year, the station adopted a pop music format called Music City RX93 and ranked number one in radio surveys in the mid-1980s.

In 1987, the station relocated from its studios and offices in Makati to its present location in Ortigas and was reorganized as Light Rock RX93, adopting a light rock format.

In October 1990, the station reverted to pop music and changed its name to Monster Radio RX93. Three years later, the station adopted the slogan “The First Creative Pop Music Station” and added .1 to its call letters, becoming Monster Radio RX 93.1. In the late 1990s, the station adopted its current slogan “Hottest in Manila”. The station has also been known as “Hottest in Summer” and “Hottest in Season”.
