The Democratic Party is the perfect alternative to this political regime that is failing our people more every day.
From its birth to its evolution, our party has only cared about the cause of the people of Benin, political prisoners and exiles Politically, for all those who have suffered abuses from this regime and, finally, for democracy in Benin.
In the face of President Patrice Talon’s evolving brutality, our party remains faithful to its original theme: to defend the aspirations of our people, whatever the cost.
Since 2016, we have been faced with an undemocratic, self-centered, plutocracy, pride and violent political regime.
A political regime that has neither credibility nor grace when it comes to sharing adversity with others.
A greedy political regime that monopolizes everything and does not respect the rights of the minority.
Its sole purpose is to vassalize all the institutions of the Republic.
There are numerous examples of the positions taken by the movement parties in Parliament in the selection of members of the various parliamentary committee offices, in the selection of members of the Constitutional Court, in the selection of members of the Economic and Social Council (CES), HAAC, etc.
A political regime that jails its political opponents under false pretenses.
A political regime that expels all those who disagree with its views.
However, our party’s continued focus on improving the nation’s image has led us to continually call for the organization of inclusive political dialogues so that we can reach a national consensus on various major divisive issues.
The relentless pursuit of this political dialogue has already led us to meet with President Patrice Talon on November 27, 2023.
Of course, the hidden agenda of the “break” is to push us to the limit through its policies of insularity and rejection of our people’s obvious aspirations for a better life together, in order to lead our party to emulate it.
Our party will never be torn apart by exclusion, hatred and fruitless confrontation.
We will remain steadfast in our pursuit of dialogue, harmony and peace at home and in our neighbourhood.
Because in fact, contrary to the short-sighted policies of the separatist forces, this is indeed the path to national salvation, which will sooner or later find itself obliged to follow with us the path of the people.
Convinced of the usefulness of this national dialogue, the Democratic Party has decided to respond positively, with full responsibility and republican spirit, to the invitation of President Patrice Talon to participate in the parade on 1 August to celebrate the 64th anniversary of our country’s independence.
No sacrifice would be too great to promote a thaw and create the conditions for the national political dialogue called for by all sectors of society, from religious factions to political parties, including civil society.
