The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Gambia, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Gambia, Dr. Bagheri, in Tehran, Iran. The two sides signed a communiqué on the restoration of diplomatic relations between the Gambia and Iran. The two ministers agreed to establish friendly bilateral relations between the two countries based on mutual respect, equality and common interests. This development came after a series of high-level contacts between the representatives of the two countries.
The restoration of diplomatic relations is part of The Gambia’s foreign policy agenda to build partnerships, develop sustainable cooperation and implement the national development agenda.
