The San Juan National Weather Service (SNM) issued a flash flood warning for the municipalities of Aguada, Anasco, Mayagüez, Moca and Rincon until 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

At 2:12 p.m., Doppler radar indicated that thunderstorms were producing heavy rain with up to 1 inch of rainfall expected in these areas, with an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. This will cause urban and creek flooding in low-lying areas with poor drainage.

SNM warned citizens not to cross flooded roads as most flood fatalities occurred in vehicles. Likewise, it is recommended to be aware of your surroundings and avoid driving on flooded roads.

For more information and updates, residents can monitor products released by the National Weather Service and follow the advice of local authorities.
