The case of the death of a 21-year-old football player in the fog – the father and lawyer of Vakhtang Charkvian, who died after being diagnosed with Covid-19, are talking about new circumstances. The family members claim that the case is fabricated and the investigation involves the falsification of evidence with the staff of the Republican Hospital.
Three years after the tragedy, the family received a response from the experts, which stated that the records from the clinic’s surveillance cameras, which they had been asking for years to be deleted, had been deleted. Vakhtang Charkvian’s father suspected that his son might have been touched at the clinic.
Later, when the police arranged an inspection, as early as a month in 2024, in June, the inspection report came, and it was directly written that on September 23, 2021, the mentioned hard disk, all the records, were deleted. “We have every reason to suspect that my son was touched,” said Gayoz Charkviani, the father of Vakhtang Charkviani.
The lawyer for the family of the deceased, Akala Gamush, told Privels that even three years after the incident, there is no expert report that would allow the defense to find out if the medical staff had anything to do with the outcome.
To this day, I do not have an expert report that can tell us how the medical staff handled the current results. We are waiting for two of the important findings, one of which is that, as far as we know, the computer forensics report has been completed and the result is negative because the records were actually destroyed. What happened was the result of human intervention or inaction, and we have a result: we do not have those important evidence, and this is confirmed by the expert’s report,” the lawyer said.
Vakhtang Charkvian, a 20-year-old football player, died at the Republic Hospital on September 10, 2021. Charkvian was infected with the coronavirus when he was admitted to the hospital, but according to his family, Charkvian had defeated the virus before his death.
