Abdul Razzaq Habza, secretary general of the Association for the Protection of Consumers in Damascus and its Villages, believes that owners of processed ready-to-eat foods such as kebabs, grilled meats and shawarma add additives such as “tourist bread and potatoes” to chicken to ensure food safety by raising prices above ration prices, pointing out that current prices for cooked food rations are set according to actual costs.
