July 29, 2024 (AL DAMAR/RABAK) – Two suspected Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drones attacked the government headquarters in Dhamar, the capital of River Nile State, while another drone attacked a military base in Rabak, White Nile State, on Monday night.
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that two explosions occurred in Al Damar, about 310 kilometers north of Khartoum, when no ground defenses were activated. One drone hit the Ministry of Local Government building, causing a fire, while the other landed near the government secretariat.
Civil defence forces put out the fire and the Nile state security committee later said advanced defence systems had shot down two suicide drones over Dhamar.
The commission added that “through this attack, the Daglo family’s rebel militia demonstrated its continued commitment to aggression and terrorism,” and confirmed that there were no casualties and minimal damage.
The target area in Damal houses several important government buildings, including the intelligence service and police headquarters.
Meanwhile, another drone attacked a special operations camp in Rabak, but military sources confirmed that ground defense systems successfully mitigated the attack.
In recent months, the RSF has increasingly used drones to attack army-held cities, notably in April when it attacked a Ramadan gathering in Atbara, killing and wounding people. Similar attacks have also been reported in Gedaref, Shendi, Kosti and Kenana.
