Sharjah Cultural Chess Club has concluded its participation in the Pridubica Chess Festival in the Czech Republic as part of its plan to develop the club’s talented players, improve their international rankings and prepare them for local and international tournaments.

The delegation was led by the club’s vice-president Omran Al-Naimi and included the head of the technical team, Omar Noman Al Ali, coach Viorel Lourdescu, and the players: Abdul Rahman Al-Taher, Zayed Al-Taher, Saud Al-Zarouni, Salem Bouayoun, Saif Al-Zarouni, Yahya Al-Kaf, Saqr Issa, Hamad Shuaib and Saud Badr Al Zarouni, Khalifa Al Hammadi, Sultan Ahmed Al Muhairi, Ahmed Ali Bamatraf and Abdul Rahman Al. Hammadi.

Through their camps, the players participated in several international tournaments with more than 1,500 male and female players, the best result came from player Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al-Taher who improved his rating by 100 points, surpassing player Zayed Al-Taher who also broke the 2,200-point mark in his international ranking, also scoring 99 points in the international team, Arab champion Saud Jaber Al Zarouni who broke the 1,900-point mark in his international ranking after increasing his international ranking by 39 points in his first foreign international competition, and teenager Ahmed Bamtarif who achieved excellent results, adding 69 points in his international ranking.

After returning from the camp, Sharjah chess players will participate in the UAE age-group championships, team championships organised by the UAE Chess Federation, as well as Arab and Asian championships.

The head of the delegation, Omran Abdullah, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the club’s chairman, Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, for supporting the club and the players in participating in the summer camp and improving the players’ technical level.
