The donation will “reaffirm the State of Qatar’s strong support for the Palestinian cause and for addressing the humanitarian situation facing Palestinian refugees.”
The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has provided $25 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
The donation will strengthen UNRWA’s social protection, ensuring refugees have access to food and shelter. This generous funding will also be used for critical issues such as healthcare and social services for Palestinian refugees.
According to local media reports, His Excellency Sultan bin Ahmed Al Asiri stressed that “UNRWA is playing an important role today in providing assistance to the people of Gaza who are suffering from the terrible war.”
Furthermore, the aid helps “reaffirm the State of Qatar’s strong support for the Palestinian cause and addressing the humanitarian situation facing Palestinian refugees,” he added.
Tamara Al Rifai, Director of External Relations and Communications of UNRWA, expressed her gratitude to the Government and people of Qatar for their unwavering support for Palestine refugees. She stressed the importance of UNRWA as a key voice in support of Palestine refugees in the region.
These efforts reflect Qatar’s dedication to regional stability, peace and human dignity since the outbreak of the Gaza war.
