Paris 2024: Opening Ceremony on the Seine
Hashnet:
The Paris 2024™ Olympic Games Opening Ceremony kicked off today (Friday) at 7:30pm local time (17:30 GMT) with a video clip of comedian Jamel Debbouze and former footballer Zinedine Zidane at the Stade de France before 6,800 athletes took part in an unprecedented march along the Seine in front of the French capital’s historic landmark.
The first boat included a delegation from Greece, considered the cradle of the modern Olympics, followed by boats from other delegations at the start of the celebrations attended by the famous American singer Lady Gaga.
For the first time in history, the opening ceremony will be held outside the main stadium, with 320,000 spectators watching from stands built specifically for the ceremony on the river bank, and about 200,000 spectators watching from the balconies of adjacent buildings.
