2.5 billion people worldwide lack access to improved sanitation. 1 billion people have to practice open defecation and 748 million people lack access to improved drinking water. water 1.8 billion people use drinking water sources that are contaminated by faeces. These statistics highlight the magnitude of the challenge the world will face if the draft Sustainable Development Goal for safe drinking water is not met. Hygiene and personal hygiene By 2030, everyone will have access to this goal.
Goal 6 includes a specific target for 2030, namely to “achieve access to adequate and equitable Hygiene and personal hygiene End open defecation for all, paying special attention to the needs of women, girls and vulnerable groups.”
