“Thematic reports will be released gradually afterwards. GBoS and its partners will also strive to complete all reports within three months after the end of July 2024,” he added.
Sanjan announced the developments at a press conference on the status of census enumeration and counting work at the GBoS office on Thursday.
He said that in the ongoing 2024 Population and Housing Census, after the completion of census data collection, GBoS has so far registered 99% of the buildings in the country.
He said the report was based on evidence from the status of the list exercise, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and sync data.
While introducing the latest progress of the census work, he said that considering that the census coverage has never reached 100%, the national coverage of 99% is an important milestone.
Regarding the household census, Secretary-General Sanyang further reported that significant progress had been made; and noted that as of Monday, July 24, By 2024, data from field synchronization indicate that approximately 97% of the estimated total population has been counted.
He pointed out that the remaining 70% of the census workers’ salaries have been paid to all those who were recruited to various positions to participate in the census work during the normal census period and have reported for payment.
He said the amount was paid by the GBoS Project Implementation Unit of the Statistics Coordination and Improvement Organization for West and Central Africa (HISWACA).
He went on to say that each officer is contracted individually and will only be paid if they successfully complete their mission and properly turn in their exercise equipment.
“Some payments are under review due to issues related to mishandling of tablets, theft of tablets and laptops, and some people’s contracts have been terminated due to their unethical behaviour,” he said.
