Heat waves and rising temperatures have led to an extension of the summer holidays for schools in parts of Sindh province, which has been grappling with an increase in heat waves and sharp rises in temperatures.

After the extension, schools will open after August 14. The decision is also made in part in view of the upcoming monsoon rains.
Rains are also expected to affect school classes in the coming weeks. Officials said extracurricular activities related to the country’s Independence Day will go on as planned.
The celebrations will go ahead regardless of the extension of the summer vacation. According to the directive of the Department of School Education and Literacy, all educational institutions in the province, including schools and colleges, will remain closed.
The weather department said they will continue to monitor weather conditions in Sindh and share details of any significant changes. Sindh must be prepared for scorching heat from Wednesday.
