The Minister was accompanied on the tour by Permanent Secretary Matarr Ceesay and DPS Technical Ebrima Colley among others. The shipyard General Manager/Superintendent Buba Njie and his senior management team along with General Manager Abdoulie Tambedou and the Gambia Ferry Services team showed the Minister and his team around the ferry in action.

In addition, the phases of work completed include chiseling, scraping, sandblasting and anti-corrosion painting of underwater areas, as well as gouging and cutting of all damaged areas, while fabrication and welding of fender tubes etc. is now well underway. Re-plating is progressing well and painting will be carried out once the carpentry work is complete.
In the engineering section, the Engineering Services Department briefed the accompanying personnel on the procurement and delivery phases of four new marine diesel engines, cooling systems, clutches, cardan shaft systems, piping and hydraulic systems, and Schottel rudder propulsion systems.
The Minister thanked the teams, expressed appreciation for the achievements so far and urged the expedited completion of the outstanding parts of the overall ferry project to ensure that the second ferry starts sailing on the Banjul/Barra route as soon as possible.
