PP Tapera donations to file lawsuit against MK and Supreme Court: Okezone Economy

Jakarta – The union will file a judicial review (JR) against PP Tapera at the Constitutional Court (MK) and the Supreme Court (MA). In this way the policy is cancelled.

Syed Iqbal, the Labor Party and chairman of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI), urged the cancellation of PP No. 21 of 2024 on the implementation of public housing savings, as it is considered a burden on private workers or laborers when their wages must be paid and cut by the government.

“We demand the revocation of PP No. 21/2024 on Tapera and the amendment of the Tapera Law,” he said in an official statement on Sunday (2/6/2024).

In addition, Syed Iqbal explained that his party and workers will also hold a massive demonstration in front of the National Palace on June 6 to raise the same demands, as he believes that the plan will burden workers whose purchasing power has not yet recovered.

“The Labor Party and KSPI will prepare a large action with thousands of workers participating at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, June 6,” he added.

Syed Iqbal said there are at least several reasons why the Tapera program is not being properly implemented at present. Because the Tapera program is not clear, especially whether Tapera workers and participants will automatically get housing certainty after joining the Tapera program. If forced, this may hurt Tapera workers and participants.

Then Tapera is considered a burden on workers and the people because, according to him, in the last five years, the real wages of workers (the purchasing power of workers) have fallen by 30%. This is because wages have not risen for almost 3 years in a row and this year they have risen very cheaply. If Tapera cuts another 3%, the burden of living for workers will of course be heavier, especially since the cut in workers’ contributions is five times greater than the cut in employers’ contributions.

Apart from that, the Tapera program seems to be forced only to collect public funds, especially from workers, civil servants, TNI/Police, and the public.

Do not allow Tapera to become a new form of corruption, as happened with ASABRI and TASPEN. Therefore, it is inappropriate to implement Tapera without strict supervision to ensure that there is no corruption in the Tapera program funds.
