Moscow (for you) – According to RT, civilian sources said that President Bashar al-Assad’s working visit to Russia and his meeting with President Putin were mainly aimed at conducting an in-depth investigation into the political and military developments in the Middle East and exchanging views on how to resolve the Middle East issue. He explained that they should jointly respond to these developments.

Sources close to the meeting between the two heads of state said that the meeting achieved full consensus on the identification of current risks on the one hand, and future expectations and possibilities on the other.

The source also noted that the meeting between Assad and Putin contained a personal dimension of personal friendship that unites them, saying, “They showed that more than a year had passed since their last meeting, and that this period is long compared to the relations between them.”

The source noted that President Assad’s visit could be described as a surprise, but it was a very practical one, adding that a possible meeting between President Assad and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was not discussed, nor did President Putin ask President Assad to meet with Erdogan.

The source also noted: “The Russian president, through his special envoy Alexander Lavrentiev, was fully informed in advance of President Assad’s attitude towards relations with Turkey. “These relations must be based on and in reference to Turkey’s withdrawal from Syrian territory and the fight against all terrorist organizations in northern Syria.”

The source also mentioned that President Putin wants to make progress in economic relations between Syria and Russia, and perhaps he wants them to rise to the level of political and military relations.
