Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Sports Council, Roads and Transport Authority, and former Vice Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, thanked Matar Al Tayer for his services to the sports cause during his tenure as Vice Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
The Dubai Council, through its accounts on social media platforms, listed a series of the most outstanding actions and successes achieved by Al Tayer during his tenure at the Council, as well as the solid mark he made on the sporting scene in the UAE as a whole and in Dubai in particular.
The Dubai Council said: “Matar Al Tayer has held many sports positions, the most important of which is the Vice Chairman of Dubai Sports Council from its inception in November 2005 to July 2024, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Sports Council. He has been the recipient of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award since its establishment in 2008. He has empowered the nation through numerous initiatives launched by the Dubai Sports Council, especially the Hamdan bin Mohammed Sports Leadership Preparation Programme, a national qualification programme for the training of administrative cadres and outstanding athletes.
He has also been passionate about applying governance standards in the sports sector, as well as attracting global championships and strengthening cooperation with international sports federations and global organizers. He has met with heads of international sports federations and crowned world champions, international football stars, participated in the Dubai International Sports Congress, Dubai Globe Soccer Award winners, among many other achievements.
